LähikalatyöpajaOn December 1, a workshop on the first experiences from the Local Fishing project and best practices going forward was held in Turku, Finland. The goal of the workshop was to identify and find solutions for bottlenecks related to commercialization of cypridid fish. Bringing together experts from different organisations throughout the production chain, including food industries and fishermen, helps to find the route for cypridid fish to all Finns’ dinner table. To start with, the NutriTrade Pilot Fish was briefly introduced by Marjukka Porvari and Miina Mäki from the John Nurminen Foundation. Jari Setälä from the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) shared experiences from earlier projects on intensified fishing, and Leena Pökki (Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences) discussed what kind of experiences institutional kitchens have from using local food in their menu.
