Dear experts/stakeholders of nutrients/the Baltic Sea,
The Swedish-Finnish project NutriTrade invites you to a workshop to contribute to the development of a nutrient offsetting platform for the Baltic Sea area. The project is one of the flagship projects of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region: these projects seek to reduce discharges significantly and, as a consequence, promote the Baltic Sea’s restoration to a good ecological status.
The NutriTrade project aims to develop and pilot an application platform for implementing voluntary nutrient trading and offsetting nutrient discharges in the Baltic Sea area. The platform will bring together efficient nutrient reduction projects and those voluntary financiers who wish to compensate their nutrient discharges and neutralise their nutrient footprint. With this workshop, we aim to gather stakeholders that one way or another have the interest and/or relevant knowledge in order to establish a successful platform in a way that can meet the needs of potential projects and financiers.
As an expert in the field, we would like to hear your thoughts on the needs and challenges related to nutrient offsetting. Could a nutrient trade system reduce the nutrient load to the Baltic Sea? What kind of projects could be financed by such a system? How would the platform for such a trade look in order to attract your interest?
Your input will be crucial in helping us develop a trading platform which best addresses the need for nutrient reducing projects and financiers of these.

Kära näringsämnes- och Östersjöexperter!
Det svensk-finska projektet NutriTrade önskar bjuda in er till en workshop i vilken er expertis kan hjälpa oss med utvecklingen av en handelsplattform för att minska närsaltsbelastningen till Östersjön. Projektet är ett flaggskeppsprojekt i EU:s Östersjöstrategi och har som mål att uppnå betydande utsläppsminskningar och därigenom få Östersjön i ett bättre ekologiskt skick.
NutriTrade går i korthet ut på att skapa en plattform för matchning mellan utförare av åtgärder för att minska utsläpp av näringsämnen till havet, och aktörer som är villiga att frivilligt kompensera sina egna utsläpp genom finansiering av sådana åtgärder. Med denna workshop önskar vi samla såväl de som jobbar med olika åtgärdsprojekt men även de som kan tänkas finansiera dessa för att diskutera utformningen av ett handelssystem för näringsämnen och dess plattform.
Kan ett handelssystem för närsalter bidra med att minska övergödningen av Östersjön? Vad skulle väcka ert intresse för att delta med åtgärdsprojekt eller som finansiär i en sådan plattform? Hur skulle en plattform för en sådan handel se ut?
Era bidrag kommer att vara avgörande för att hjälpa oss i vårt arbete att utveckla en handelsplattform som på bästa sätt möter behoven av närsaltsreducerande projekt samt finansiärerna av dessa.
