Mussel farmers were able to submit bids on mussel farming before 23 February. The mussel farming should start in spring 2016, and harvesting should be done in autumn 2017, when weather conditions are suitable. The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences has signed a contract with one mussel farmer in Östergötland to carry out this task. The contract ensures compensation at the time of harvesting, based on the harvested volume and the associated nutrient removal.
